Well we are now back, having made the trip from Edinburgh Castle to John O'Groats in two epic days!
A huge thank you to the support team, Carols Dad John, Carol & Suilven, and Jason & Anna, and to all those who came out along the way to lend encouragement, shouting, hooting, piping, and fellow cyclists.
Huge thank you also for all the sponsorship (and if you havn't there is still time!).
Thanks again,
John
Thank you also Almost exactly one year ago I was with my friends Colin Harris, Jonny Creaney and Sam Proctor climbing up the side of Gran Paradiso, the highest alpine peak solely in Italy. As Colin has already said on his page "It was a fantastic trip with beautiful weather and stunning views of the snow capped mountains. Summit day involved a 4am start from the hut we had climbed to the previous afternoon and with a lung busting ascent in the dark up to the glacier we eventually roped up, dawned our crampons and climbed through the ice field, avoiding the enormous crevasses, to the summit at 4030m".
Most of you will know that Colin always leads me astray, whether it is last minute mountain trek with no training, 'one' extra drink or a just staying out a 'wee bit longer'.
This time though its all for the right reasons....little did we know when we returned from Italy that one of us had a timetomb ticking inside and one year on things are very different. Shortly after the trip Jonny was diagnosed with a large tumour in his bowel and has been undergoing treatment. Since then i've been following Jonny’s blog: http://scarpadog.wordpress.com/ keeping up to date with his ups and downs. Constant throughout these blogs is the praise Jonny gives to the Beatson for the excellent care and respite that he recieves.
So, in aid of this charity, we are going to cycle from Edinburgh Castle to Inverness Castle in one day, a trip of around 160 miles. We leave on September 24th with Colin planning to extend his trip to John O'Groats by midnight the following day.
Your support will be massively appreciated whether it’s through a donation or simply giving us encouragement on the day.
