Story

Deep Breaths - GIVING SOMETHING BACK

Now then. As you know, I'm John Quinton-Barber.  I am a happily married optimistic Yorkshireman with two lovely little girls. I have a great network of friends, a loving family and I am in decent health and I have a good job. I have everything I need - and more. This is my 40th year and I want to give something back. Throughout the next 12 months, I am attempting to raise £4,000 for the Miscarriage Association - a UK charity which offers support to women and men who have experienced the pain of miscarriage, when it most needed. This is a fantastic charity that needs over £200,000 a year to survive, so every penny makes a difference - just £36 will help staff the helpline for an hour (responding up to four requests for help).

Deeper Breaths - Shedding my lardy arse

To achieve the £4,000 target I have agreed to attempt to lose three stone during the next 12 months. For those who are close to me will know how much of an achievement that will be.  My current weight is 17 stone 13 and my target weight is 15 stone. I've made the first step by removing our local kebab shop number from my BT Friends and Family list.

Seriously, as well as dieting and more exercising,  I will be undertaking a couple of major initiatives during the course of the next 12 months to make sure I reach my target by July 1st 2011.

I will be updating the site on a regular basis - with photograpic evidence of how I am progressing.....so keep checking back. I know times are tough at the moment, but please dig deep and help me Give Something Back during my 40th year.  Don't worry if you can't spare any loose change,  just wish me luck. Now where's that stick of celery gone....

Thank you,

John
