Great North Run 2017 · 10 September 2017 ·

The Christie charity provides enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds. Your support can help us to fund life-changing and potentially life-saving projects that will benefit cancer patients both now and in the future.

Story

On August 27th I'm taking part in the inaugural Great Aberdeen Run - a half marathon through the streets of the Granite City. Then, just two weeks later, I'm returning to the Great North Run in Newcastle for the seventh time, where myself and my dad will be running the world-famous half marathon to raise money for The Christie, where my mum was treated and cared for before her death in 2005.

The Great North Run is especially poignant for my dad, who is originally from the north-east, and he has run in the event 30 times! Now aged 71, he's aiming to make it 31.

He has been a governor at The Christie for many years now and the charity has given us both a place on the starting line for the 2017 Great North Run. We want to show them our support by raising as much as we can for this wonderful cause.
