Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit John's JustGiving page.

Dad was such a brave, gentle and loving man who was always hopeful and humourous despite his pain. He was disabled from the age of 17 due to a motorbike accident and this affected his health to a large extent throughout his life. 39 years of medication took it's toll on him and he suffered with Liver disease over the last 5 years of his life.

Dad was put onto the transplant list a month ago but unfortunately it was too late as he picked up another infection due to his disability and poor immune system. He was never without hope and this seems to ease our pain at this sad time.

We wish to thank all the nurses and doctors who looked after him so well.

It is now very important to us that we raise awareness about Liver disease and organ donation in the hope that another family will not have to suffer the tragic loss that we have.

The British Liver Trust aims to raise the profile of all Liver diseases, achieving greater recognition, better support and wider understanding for people with Liver disease. If you would like to donate to the British Liver Trust in memory of our Dad you can do it from the link on this page.

If you would also like to become an organ donor please sign up using the NHS organ donor register (and please if you do let your family know your wishes)

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more in memory of our Dad, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
