Story

Who is John Lindsay

A true ‘Anglo-Icelandic VIKING’ born into a family of adventurers and love of the sea. Raced over twenty years and a mechanic by trade, John who was taught by his father has the knowledge, determination and ability to master his quest. In life there is always a reason why...

With a beautiful wife and two wonderful children life looks so perfect...  yet Six years ago John Lindsay (senior) was diagnosed with Myeloma (blood) cancer and sadly a few weeks ago he lost his battle. John (junior) being so close to his dad has watched over the years, his father’s struggle and constant fight for life! Never a moment passed when John senior stopped fighting to find a cure whether with modern or alternative medications, he even went to Thailand to see what ancient remedies were available.

So the picture is set, you can see why John (junior) has undertaken another heroic challenge to conquer the seas yet purely it is to help others similar to his father to ‘Save a Life’. Building awareness for Myeloma and Testicular Cancer; he is hoping that this will receive media acknowledgement and gain funds for research and the cure that his father so desperately wanted... ‘One Life Ten Nations’ is all about one person one boat and one aim! To beat the unbeatable to LIVE the one life we are given... assist us to help others.

John (junior) quotes “I finally would like to do this achievement in memory of my father and to raise as much needed money for Everyman www.everyman-campaign.org

This journey won’t be John Junior on his own as he is taking some of his Fathers ashes with him to complete their last adventure together... In Grunstad Frode the organiser of the ThunderCat UIM P750 World Championship and Grunstad Powerboat Festival said that we will help to give a true Norwegian welcome to John Junior when he arrives into Grunsatad from Southampton and assist with his Fathers farewell when the ashes are scattered in true Viking style.... Fiona Pascoe ThunderCat Racing UK organiser quotes: “It’s wonderful how the boating community around the world are just one big family that are there for each other.”

Everyman is an appeal run by The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR). Every year some 10,000 men lose their lives to prostate cancer and over 2,000 others have their world turned upside down by a diagnosis of testicular cancer. These men are the reason we are fundraising for male specific cancers.
