Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

What does JOGLE mean?

In December 2008 I suffered a mild heart attack whilst cycling in the New Forest, but fortunately I received excellent care from many different people in the healthcare community.

People who helped me included the NHS Walk-in centre (Shirley, Southampton), The Hampshire Ambulance Service, The Southampton General Hospital A&E, Cardiac Care Unit and Winchester Cardiac Rehab Unit.

Part of my rehab has been conducted in the gym at Winchester Hospital where the staff helped me to get back to a normal lifestyle. It was great to meet dedicated people who were able to provide support in a sensitive way and with a great sense of humour.

I wanted to give something back to those who have helped me during this unexpected 'blip', so I decided to undertake another cycle ride.

JOGLE stands for John O Groats to Lands End and I will be embarking on this journey on May 22nd 2010 with my very good friend Mark.

We have set up a blog page which we hope to update as we progress:

If you wanted to support me in raising funds for the Winchester Cardiac Rehab Unit then please use this site to make a donation.

If you would rather sponsor me per mile or would rather donate offline then please let me know.

You can e mail me at john_hamshare@baa.com

You can also use this e mail address to send messages of encouragement during the ride, I am sure they will be much appreciated.

Thank you, in advance, for any support you may be able to offer me in my BIG challenge.

John
