The Home Instead Bondi2Berry bike ride will start at Bondi Beach and finish 150km down the coast in Berry. The 'Ride to Remember' will raise money to help find a cure for Alzheimer’s.
It's next Saturday, 10th September 2016
Organisers, Nick, Pierre and James, have first hand experience with the disease. Nick and Pierre have parents who suffer from dementia. Pierre’s mother was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, and Nick’s father was diagnosed in 2011. Nick's Nona passed away after suffering with the disease for more than 7 years. James has worked in aged care since 2010 and has witnessed the strain this disease places on close friends and family.
Dementia is the second leading cause of death in Australia. It is a collection of symptoms that are caused by disorders affecting the brain, it is not one specific disease. There is no cure.
Currently there are more than 350,000 Australians living with dementia. Without a major breakthrough in research, the figure is expected to soar to 900,000 by 2050.
So please give as generously as you are able to.
