Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am cycling to raise money for a great charity, which supported me and my family when cancer tore us apart - Penny Brohn Cancer Care.

From New Year's Eve 2000 until October 2010, cancer took over our lives. My sister had melanoma. It spread throughout her body over many years. She had many operations, radiotherapy and chemotherapy multiple times to try and kill the disease.

She was a fighter. Her battle with cancer went on for 10 years and every time I thought it would get the better of her, she didn't let it. Sadly, in July 2010, cancer finally got too much. She managed to keep fighting to see her daughters 16th birthday until she passed. She was and will always be the strongest and bravest person I have ever known.

Whilst my sister was fighting cancer, my dad also found out that he had Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Penny Brohn was there to support him through his battle and he made friends with many of the lovely nurses who cared for him. He passed away in October 2010 after a long fight.

Nowadays everyone knows someone who has cancer, has fought it or has sadly lost their battle. It has become so common and too many people are having to suffer through it or watch someone suffer.

I want to complete this challenge to raise lots of money for a fantastic cause, which will help ease the pain for other families that are struggling to cope.

Any kind of donation will be gratefully received.

Jon
