My story

Fundraising for Parkinsons

For those of you who knew Chris Locke (Dad) you will be aware of how much he did for others.  Throughout his life he gave freely of his time to give opportunities to children at school, at the youth club and at Harlow Rugby Club.  He organsed trips, tours, Christmas parties, dinners, discos, raffles, race nights, you name it he tried it.  He was relentless in his drive to make a difference and always did it with a smile on his face.  His impact was clear with the huge number of people who posted tributes on the Harlow Rugby Club website following his death and the wonderful turn-out at his funeral.

In the final years of his life, Dad had been suffering from Parkinson's Disease.  It was having a devastating effect on his body and eventually contributed to the pneumonia from which he died. However, after being diagnosed he was supported by the Parkinson's Society and this helped him to retain such a positive outlook and attitude.  For this reason I feel that I must do something to support the charity.

At the beginning of August 2012, just after the 1st anniversary of Dad's death, I shall be cycling from London to Paris.  This is more than 300 miles in three days.  I am doing this with a small group of friends including Jonny Hewlett from the Rugby Club.  He is also raising funds for the Parkinson's Society.

I would be very grateful if you would consider sponsoring me.  Any contributions will be appreciated and will make a difference to Parkinson's sufferers in the UK.

Thanks

Jon Locke

Parkinson’s UK

Charity Registration No. 258197 and Scotland SC037554

Every hour, someone in the UK is told they have Parkinson’s. Because we’re here, no one has to face Parkinson’s alone. We bring people with Parkinson’s, their carers and families together via our network of local groups, our website and free confidential helpline. Specialist nurses, our supporters and staff provide information and training on every aspect of Parkinson’s. As the UK’s Parkinson’s support and research charity we’re leading the work to find a cure, and we’re closer than ever. We also campaign to change attitudes and demand better services. Our work is totally dependent on donations. Help us to find a cure and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson’s.
