<p>Thrown in with the undoubtedly pretty view is a 46 hour trek through dense rain forests, rocky plateaus and snowy peaks, all under the glare of the Tanzanian sun and all in order to reach the summit of Kilamanjaro, which at nearly 6kms above sea level, is the tallest mountain in Africa.</p>

<p>Those of you who have walked up an escalator from the tube with me will know that my sporting days are long behind me, and those of you that have know me since the times of old will know that said days were brief and entirely unsuccessful.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>So why the change of heart and foolhardy ambition of the summit?</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Well the trek to the summit is not the real target - the REAL target is to raise £50,000 for the Oscar foundation. And this is my opportunity to play a part in it.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>For those of you who don't know, the Oscar Foundation was set up last year by loving parents in memory of Oscar Tuffield.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The Oscar Foundation was set up in order to help children in the UK and Third World Countries that are sick and in desperate need of treatment or abandoned and in need of a home. The Foundation has already done some incredible work and with your help can continue to keep saving the lives of young children and helping those children that were never given the chance that we were.</p>
