--13.1 miles in 02:04:43--

Well, that was tougher than I thought it would be, but I did it!  I completed my first half marathon in 02:04:43.  I'm really pleased with my time, even though I didn't come in under two hours.  All this really means is that I'm going to be doing it all again another day, which can only be a good thing, right?!

Thanks to everyone who sponsored me.  To date (16/03/11) you've helped raise £252.28 for Nelson's Journey, so well done!

Don't forget that donations can still be made even though I've now completed the run. :o)

(March 2011)--

Unfortunately, owing to the recent warmer weather conditions, it looks like the City of Norwich Half Marathon is going ahead!  I'm kidding, of course.  It's great news that the run is happening...this Sunday...13 March 2011!

I'm sure I'm not the only one who put their training on the back burner after the last postponement, but I'm probably part of a smaller percentage who has left it so late to ensure I'm ready for this again.  I've done very little running this year and it's hitting home that I'm probably not as ready for this as I should be or could be.  That said, I'm still giving this a go and I'm looking forward to crossing the finish line, even if I do also have the 'sniffles' to contend with.

A lot of people have dug deep to sponsor me for this and I don't want to let them down.  I don't want to let Nelson's Journey down either.

Wish me luck!

--(November 2010)--

Unfortunately, owing to the recent cold weather conditions, concerns over safety have resulted in the City of Norwich Half Marathon being postponed until the new year (date tbc).  On the plus side it means more time to train and more time to raise money for Nelson's Journey!  I'll be sure to update this page when I know more details.

So, I've decided to go for a little run and raise a bit of money for charity.

To be exact, on 28 November 2010 I will be running 13.109375 miles for Nelson's Journey, a local Norwich-based charity which supports children and young people living in Norfolk who have experienced the death of a significant person in their life such as a parent or sibling.

I've never run this sort of distance before, but my last minute training is going okay and I'm hopeful of making it across the finish line.

Nelson's Journey is not a big charity and is totally reliant on donations of individuals like you.  Please donate what you can to help Nelson's Journey continue their good work.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

In return, I will run like the wind!
