Story
After many years of avoiding such challenges I was, in a weak moment, persuaded by some that should know better to go on this modest "jog" around Manchester (& Trafford!). For me this is somewhat daunting, not so much the distance but the fact I am apparently not allowed to stop at San Carlo, Sam's or anywhere else for that matter and even worse I have to run round that other football ground on the outskirts of Manchester! However all this pales into insignificance when measured against the difficulties faced by those born with lower limb deficiencies who struggle to walk let alone run. Whilst much can be done to help affected children & adults improve their lives and improve mobility, practical support and guidance for them and their families is painfully scarce and getting scarcer in the tough financial climate we face. STEPS, a charity based close to where I live, is the only national charity offering support to individuals, families and carers affected by clubfoot, hip dysplasia or any other lower limb condition. You will understand funding for such a small charity without the national reach or resources of many larger organisations is very tight and they rely very much on volunteers and initiatives such as this. I appreciate this might not have the cachet of many charities but their work is vital and any contributions however modest will make a real difference to those in need. Your support will also force me to do the run!! A win win!!
