Virgin London Marathon 2011 · 17 April 2011 ·

Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) is a charity set up in 1990 by people sick of seeing the ocean they love polluted. We campaign to protect the ocean and all it makes possible, by taking action on the ground that triggers change from the top. We're calling for an end to sewage and plastic pollution.

Story

I am running the London Marathon again this year and have a particular time in mind to beat (which will remain a secret unless I beat it).

As I got a Ballot place into this years marathon, I thought I would use this to raise some money for a cause that struggles to get recognition and that is the campaign for clean seas.

I'm sure all of you have (or your kids) in the last year or so have swam or paddled in the sea, but how many of you are aware of actually how dirty the waters are that you are bathing in. Even the EU blue flag beaches have high levels of untreated sewage in the water and what makes it worse is that the water companies dont have to tell you when there is a high level of untreated sewage being discharged into the sea.

Anyway rant over, please sponsor me to help raise my target amount for Surfers Against Sewage as this will also aid with motivation for me to hopefully make it round the marathon within my target time.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
