Claire's Sudan Fundraiser

Jon Taylor is raising money for Poole Hospital Africa Link
“Jonathan Taylor's fundraising”

on 11 October 2010

Donations cannot currently be made to this page
It is a partnership between Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Wau teaching hospital in Southern Sudan. It aims to address the needs of the hospital which is dire straits and recovering from the very long civil war in Sudan, by assisting with teaching and training for doctors and nurses. Teams from Poole visit Wau twice a year and have already started to improve the health care of these needy people. Your help is needed to support this vital work.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As some of you may know I'm travelling to Wau, Southern Sudan in November to help teach ultrasound.

Poole hospital has a charity link with the Wau Teaching Hospital which aims to help the teaching and support of doctors, nurses and midwives. I will be part of a team of 4 other people travelling from Poole hospital, 2 consultants, a nurse and a midwife.

Southern Sudan has the highest mortality rate in the world and those of you whom have been lucky enough to have had a child will know, ultrasound plays a vital role, that saves lives, during pregnancy.

The hospital in Wau currently has an ultrasound machine but it is only used occasionally due to lack of knowledge and a damaged scanning probe (a mouse has eaten it!).

I am currently fundraising for a new ultrasound probe.

So please dig deep and donate now.
