Story

Thanks to you all for sponsoring me - lots of photos of me (and dad) running on the left! I did it in 4 hours 7 minutes, without walking a step.

My dad, Jeremy Allen, died suddenly in June from a heart attack. It was a complete shock to all of his family and his many friends and colleagues. Despite regular check-ups, he never knew that he had heart disease.

I have decided to run the Chester Marathon on 9 October in his memory and to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. This is the hardest thing I've ever worked towards - 26 miles is a very long way! It's fair to say I'm not a natural runner and do not have a runner's physique...

Before starting my training, I had never run in any sort of race since the annual compulsory 5 mile cross-country run at school. Since my training began, I have run 340 miles in over 50 hours, including my first ever half marathon around Hackney Marshes. A 3 week old daughter and accompanying sleep deprivation only adds to the fun...

Dad was 66 when he died without warning. He may not have been a young man, but he was taken from us too early. I hope that the money I raise will help to prevent heart disease in others. It may even save your life.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thanks for reading and for your support,

Jonathan
