This September 11th, I am taking part in the 'Escape from Alcatraz' swim in San Francisco. I will risking my life swimming a mile and half through shark-infested waters, strong currents and possibly having to avoid the odd floater.

In preparation for this heroic challenge I have already taken part in the Great East and Great London Swims. Additionally I have been adhering to a strict training regime.

I’ll be doing this for Alzheimer’s Society, a disease that I think ironically gets forgotten about and also something my Grandma suffered from. I’d be hugely grateful if you could donate whatever you can to this great cause. JustGiving adds £2.82 to every £10 you donate when you opt for gift aid and it’s all quick and secure through paypal.

One in three people over 65 die with dementia, it’s more than just memory loss, it robs people of their lives and has a devastating impact on loved ones. So your donation would be gratefully received and for a worthy cause that cares, supports, trains, researches and campaigns for Alzheimer’s.
