What we are doing?
In the first week of July, Maximillion Quilter (Quilts), Joshua Howard-Clarke (Heavycat), Joseph Carvalho (Trigger), Franky Piazza (Mussolini), Harry Ross (The Yorkshire Terrier), Joe Rich (Jewseph) and myself (Jordan Martindale- Kitkat), will embark upon an epic cycling trip from Portsmouth to Spain. We will be travelling by bicycle through 3 countries without the aide of a support car all in the name of charity!- When you wish upon a star.
We will be eating and sleeping wherever and whenever possible upon the way, and our demanding schedule indicates that we will not have any rest days!
Our awaiting mammouth task takes us from Portsmouth, continuing down the whole of the west coast of France, and finally eastwards across the top of Spain to the city of Santander.
The trip consists of a gruelling 1200 miles and will require a huge amount of dedication in our training and some very challenging rides along the way.
The background....
When You Wish Upon a Star is a charity close to our hearts and is undoubtably, in our eyes, deserving of the money. After the tragic death of Max’s brother James in 2002 our families have given selflessly and worked hard to raise money for this specific charity through their annual charity event aswell as other means. We feel that by completing this expedition we can too help make a difference and raise a substantial fee for the charity.
A little about the charity...
“The charities aim is to grant the 'Wishes' of children suffering from a life threatening illness, from the age of 2 to 16. We aim to bring a sparkle into their lives no matter how big or small.
If you have happy healthy children you know what joy it brings to see them smile. This is something we should never take for granted, When You Wish Upon A Star deals with those other areas where a sick child's Wish actually becomes a reality in what may sadly be a short life.
To make that vision a reality we rely overwhelmingly on the generosity and hard work of our supporters. Quite simply, the more money we receive, the more Wishes we can have the pleasure of granting.
The saddest part of the year, is when one of the children dies. If you could have been there to see their joy and happiness during the special moment we were able to arrange for them, then you will understand why our work must continue
A smile happens in a flash but its memory lasts a lifetime...”
