Story
Thanks for visiting. I am going to run 1/4 of a marathon next February in the Sahara desert, near Tindouf, Algeria. I am running with my 3 teenager sons to support a forgotten refugee crisis. Tindouf is the home of more than 100 thousand refugees from Western Sahara. They have been there for the past 40 years after they had to flee from the Moroccan occupation.
One important reason we are going is to visit Sidahmed, our foster son for several summers, and his family which has almost become part of our own family.
Another great reason is to support Sandblast, a UK charity that is helping Saharawi refugees exploit their amazing musical talents to develop a productive industry. They are supporting the organization of the marathon from the UK, and trying to help them rebuild the camps after the floods devastated them last month.
Please visit their website where you can read a bit more about the history of the Western Sahara refugee crisis and Sandblast's activities
