Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. On 6th July, I'm going to attempt the UK Three Peaks Challenge. The challenge is to stand on the tops of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon (respectively, the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales) all within 24 hours. To make it even more of a challenge, I'm expected to walk up the mountains. Yes, walk. And at my time of life.
I'm doing this to raise money for the Family Holiday Association, which will be used to give UK families with young children a simple break at the seaside. The families helped by the Family Holiday Association are all managing on low incomes and most are facing other troubles as well - such as bereavement, long-term illness, domestic violence or disability. A break away from home gives a family time to put aside its troubles for a week, strengthen family bonds and create some happy memories that will help see them through the tough times. When I was a youngster, we had a holiday every year, even when money was tight. So when I'm dragging myself up those mountains, I'll think of all the kids who will be getting their first ever seaside break because of my efforts. And that'll help. It will help even more if you donate, so please give what you can afford to help some of the two million UK families with young children who have never had a holiday together before.
