I know times are tough this year, but just think how much tougher it is for charities and the people they help.

For the sixth year running, I am entering the Capital 2 Coast Cycle Challenge for Charity - and this year, it's not just  the usual 60 miles from Esher to Hove, it's a full 75 miles, from the London Eye to Hove.

In its 17th year, it is a charity cycle ride which supports two partner charities - Norwood and The Down’s Syndrome Association

From the London Eye start, the75-mile ride proceeds towards Long Ditton, through Chessington and past Boxhill, then along picturesque country lanes to Newdigate, Warninglid and on—and up—to the spectacular, and devilishly hard Devil's Dyke. From there on, it's sheer heaven, all downhill to the beach (and the pub).
