The Lewy Body Society, are a charity who aim to raise funding for the research and treatment of Lewy Body Dementia. Lewy Body Dementia (DLB) is the second most common form of neurodegenerative ative dementia. The disease occurs when imbalanced protein deposits (Lewy Bodies) develop in the regions of the brain regarding thought, memory and movement. This then leads to a decline in motor control, as well as mental abilities. Some symptoms of Lewy Body Dementia include: Hallucinations, Inability to Move, Insomina, Depression, Lack of Bodily Functions and Poor Cognitive Functions. Lewy Body sufferers make up around 15-20% of people living with dementia, meaning around 100,000 people in the UK are sadly suffering from the disease. DLB is more common in men over the age of 60, but the disease is a becoming prominent threat to many people.
The Lewy Body Society, aim to use their donations to aid in the research and treatment of this dangerous form of dementia. They also to provide community focus for those who suffer with dementia, alongside their families/friends/carers. Your donations can help critically reduce the risk of this disease, as well as giving people the care and treatment they need. It will also help to raise awareness for this disease, leading to faster developments for treatment and diagnosis.
