Back in 2003 my mam found out she had breast cancer, it was a horrible experience for all the family and close friends. Fortunately for us my mam being the battler she is got through the gruelling day to day challenges of dealing with cancer and thankfully came out fine the other end.

The thing is that unfortunately not everyone has the happy ending which my mam had, this really hit home when I visited the Maggie’s centre at Newcastle Freeman where my mam now volunteer’s and seen people who were my own age battling with cancer. The centre gives those who are going through the gruelling ordeal a place to go, a place to speak to people who have been through it all and speak with the professionals who know the in's and out's. The centre not only helps the patients but the family of them too.

So why did I decide to do a coast to coast cycle? To be honest I’m still asking myself the same question! I'm 25 year old and luckily for me I’m pretty healthy, my fitness on the other hand is pretty horrific! I thought of a few different things which I could do, jumping out of a plane, doing the GNR, doing a sponsored walk, hosting an event the list goes on, but i wanted to do something that would be a really big challenge, something that I would never want to do by choice something that’s not particularly fun but something that will hopefully be pretty rewarding, not just to me but hopefully to all of those who (by the help of you guys) will be able to attend the Maggie’s centres in the future!

I'd really appreciate anything you can donate from £1 upwards!

Those of you who know me well will know how pedantic I am about my hair..... If I can double my target of £1000 I’ll shave it all off!
