We are a 24 hour search & rescue service to save lives at sea

Story

Hey,

For those of who know me you will now my two greatest pleasures in life are exercise and giving money away and the Bath Half Marathon offers me the perfect opportunity to amalgamate these pleasures in an enduring 13.2 mile run =)

On a more serious note though, I thank you for taking the time to look at my page and hope that you dig deep in those pockets and help me raise some money for a good cause.

Living down in sunny old Cornwall the beach features frequently in my day-to-day activities. However beautiful these beaches are, they can also be very dangerous but the patrolling RNLI Beach Lifeguards help to minimise the occurrence of these dangers. The RNLI operate on the majority of popular beaches throughout England as well as having an offshore lifeboat service that performs sea rescues. They are an emergency service, called on by tourists and locals alike to help in stressful and hazardous conditions. However they do not receive the same amount of governmental funding as the other services and therefore rely heavily upon the charitable donations that they receive from the general public. I am extremely lucky and get to live in a position where I can see the sea; I have been witness to many successful rescues carried out by the RNLI Beach Lifeguards as well as watching them in their preventative role. The vigilance of the lifeguards means that the beaches are closely monitored thus reducing the potential for dangerous situations to arise. If it wasn't for the funding that the RNLI receive then this preventative practice would be lost and many more people would get into trouble at beaches or in the sea throughout the UK.

For those of you who holiday in Cornwall, Devon or any other seaside attraction, as well as those of you who live in these vicinities; the RNLI have no doubt enabled you to feel safe when you are enjoying your days at the beach. Whether they have helped with a rescue, aided you if you were hurt or stung, looked for lost friends and family or perhaps just by making you aware of potential risks.

Thanks for taking your time to read this page and please do donate. Whether you choose to donate 10p or £10 it is all very much appreciated and will be put to good use. Donating is easy just click the button to donate and enter the amount, it shouldnt take more than a couple of minutes and is safe and secure.

This is my first ever half marathon and I am training hard daily so that I am able to complete the course. The event takes place on Sunday the 7th of March in Bath (obviously), so if you would like to come and watch, support and cheer on all us crazy-kids who have chosen to run-for-fun then please do.

Thanks a lot

Josh

Now i must go for a run, yippee!

ps. I know that my target says £300 but I am more than happy to go well past this amount =)
