Virgin London Marathon 2012 · 22 April 2012 ·
Hello all,
Those of you who have known me for a while know that I've only recently caught the running bug.
In April 2011, I sat in front of the television watching footage of the London Marathon. I was hugely inspired by runners / walkers of all ages and abilities tackling the 26.2 mile distance for various charities. That very afternoon, I put on my old trainers and went for a jog. I bought a new pair of trainers a week later and the rest, as they say, is history.
I did my first 10k in July 2011 and my first half marathon in September 2011. So, I have decided to push myself that bit further and go for my first ever marathon - London 2012.
I am running in support of the Docklands Settlements, a small local charity that reaches out to vulnerable families living in the Isle of Dogs, Rotherhithe and Stratford. The charity organises services such as childcare and parenting services, scout packs and cubs to benefit the local community.
Having lived and worked in the Docklands, I would like to use this opportunity to give something back to the community.
Please dig deep and sponsor me. It will not be easy training in the long, cold and dark winter months but your generosity and support will keep me going.
Thank you very much for your support. And remember, every little bit counts!
Cheers,
Joyce
