Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the London Marathon in 2012 in order to raise both money for and awareness of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, DMD. The photograph opposite is of my gorgeous godson, Jason Thornton aged 10 who suffers from DMD. This disease is a genetic condition that gradually causes the muscles to weaken, leading to an increasing level of disability. There is currently no cure. Dominic Chandler aged 5 is another little boy who suffers from DMD and for both him and Jason along with their families, DMD has changed their lives. Sufferers experience a gradual decline in their muscle strength and are often in a wheelchair by the time they are 10 to 12 years old. Some possible treatments are being studied in clinical trials, although it will take some years before the outcome of these is known. Your donation will help the charity Action Duchenne to provide help and support to boys like Jason, Dominic and their families.
