Update 28th September: Despite the unseasonal heat and continuous undulating hills in Windsor Great Park I completed the course in 2 hours, 2 minutes & 35 seconds! I came 1998 out of a field of approximately 5000.
This was my first half marathon and I’m very happy with my time. My goal was 2 hours and as far as I’m concerned my time is near enough to it – a margin of 11.8 seconds/mile!
Thank you once again for all your words of encouragement which have spurred me on to complete the run and more importantly for all your donations to Thrive, which will make a real difference.

On 27th September I am running the Windsor half marathon. I started training on 1st June at a 5K race in Battersea Park and have gradually built up my distance and speed over the summer. The Windsor half marathon is quite hilly so I have been making the most of the few inclines of SW London....I hope they are steep enough!
I am fundraising for Thrive, a small national charity that helps people with disabilities to improve their lives through gardening. I selected this charity to help people for whom running a half marathon is less of a mental challenge but more of a physical hurdle due to their disability.
Thrive support around 900 garden projects in the UK, but are currently fundraising for £839,000 to transform the facilities at the Thrive Battersea Park Garden Project which will enable them to increase the number of local disabled people they help each year from 50 to 250. It will also enable them to reach 2,500 disabled people through community outreach work, 10 times more than today.
I have set a personal target to raise £839, just 1/1000th of the Thrive Battersea Park Garden Project target. As Thrive is a small charity any donation you give will make a real difference.
