Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I (together with quite a few other people) are taking part in the 5x50 challenge which means you have to walk/jog/run/cycle 5km each day for 50 days.
Obviously the Rett Syndrome Research Trust is very important to us and I would love to raise as much as poosible. I'm not asking anyone to donate lots. I'd much rather have lots of people giving a little ( but if you wish to donate lots please feel free)
So please dig deep and donate now.
What is Rett syndrome ?
Rett syndrome occurs almost exclusively in girls and may be misdiagnosed as autism or cerebral palsy.
Studies have linked many Rett syndrome cases to a defect in the methl-CpG-binding protein 2 (MeCP2) gene. This gene is on the X chromosome. Females have two X chromosomes, so even when one has this significant defect, the other X chromosome is normal enough for the child to survive.
The condition affects about 1 out of 10,000 children.
