Derwentwater 14km Trail Race
On Sunday 6th September 09 I'm running the race of my life, the Derwentwater Trail race! The race starts in Keswick town centre, then climbs up and up to the slopes of Blencathra, before returning to Keswick via Lattrig. This is my biggest ever challenge and a daunting task, but I'm determined to make it. Last year's event was called off due to extreme weather conditions, so I'm hoping for some sunny rays to help me on my way this year!
I started running during the last month of chemo, 3 years ago. I wanted so much to do something for me, which made me feel alive again and running did it for me. I've been running on and off ever since, nothing serious, just a couple of miles or so, but this year I've set myself this incredible challenge and I'm so looking forward it.
My practise runs have taken me onto the fells of Cumbria and when I'm on the top I feel like I'm flying, looking down and all around at the beautiful views that lay before me.
I'm raising money for CancerACTIVE, a charity I turned to in my many hours of need during my cancers. It's such an excellent charity, providing advice on complementary, alternative and orthodox cancer treaments. They scour the world for the latest treatments and current research. I hope you will join me in supporting this excellent charity, any donation would be great, no matter how small.
Thanks so much for your support, it really means so much to me.......and think of me slogging up those hills!!!!
Love to you all
Jules
