Story
Unfortunately, due to injury I have had to pull out of the Virgin London Marathon for 2011. The marathon team, however, will allow me to defer to 2012 and so I will still be running. I have had problems with my hip and knee which are hopefully resolved but it means I couldn't do enough training for this year. I am back on track now and building up slowly - am up to 3miles now so will be well prepared for 2012!!!!
Rainbows is the only hospice in the East Midlands for children and young people and is a place where life limited children any young adults and their families can find care and support. The wonderful staff team help to relieve symptoms, improve quality of life and support parents and siblings through their bereavement and care for children until the very end (http://www.rainbows.co.uk/the-hospice/)
I have had the priviledge of spending some time working with the team at Rainbows hospice for children and young people and have seen the amazing work that they do. I wanted to give something back to the hospice by running the London Marathon and raising as much money as I can. Hospices rely on donations for their continued work and you can help by donating as little or as much as you wish.
It costs Rainbows £2.8 million each year to provide care for life-limited children. They receive very little government funding, so any support you give is vital. Dig deep as any amount can make a huge difference
