Nordoff and Robbins is the UK’s largest music therapy charity, with a unique approach shaped by more than 60 years of practice. Through the power of music, it breaks through the barriers caused by life-limiting illness, disability and social isolation. The charity does this through providing music therapy to people across the UK, whilst also training the music therapists of the future and funding research to measure and improve the impact of its work.

Story

Hello and thank you so much for taking the time to visit my fundraising page. I am taking part in Try-a-Tri (a mini triathlon for women-only) on May 12th and would be so very grateful for any sponsorship. Those who know me are aware that this is hugely outside my comfort zone but I wanted to do something good, whilst continuing to test my dodgy leg, post my 2017 break! The mini triathlon consists of an 800m swim, 11km bike ride and a 2.5km run. Unfortunately, during half term, the orthopaedic surgeon told me I’m not allowed to ever run on my leg, so I shall be speed-walking that section. This is my explanation in advance for my embarrassingly slow time but I’ll just be grateful to get round!

I am raising money for Nordoff Robbins, which is a wonderful music therapy charity for vulnerable and isolated people. I am incredibly fortunate to have a job in music and being a Monkey Music teacher has taught me just how powerful music can be.

I will be taking part in the triathlon alongside a team of amazing women, all of them connected to Monkey Music in some way. As a team, we aim to raise £15,000 for this fantastic cause and you can follow our team’s progress by clicking on this link https://www.justgiving.com/companyteams/MonkeyTriTeam.

Any sponsorship will make a difference.  For example:
- £5 will provide a tool for a non-verbal child to be able to express themselves beyond words through something as simple as drumsticks
- £50 will pay for a child suffering from cancer to attend a music therapy session
- £250 will pay for a full day of music therapy in a dedicated centre.

I’d really love for my part in the fundraising to provide two full days of music therapy, so my target is £500!

THANK YOU SO MUCH, I hugely appreciate
any donation towards this incredible charity.
