bmibaby managing director, Julian Carr, is helping the airline’s local charity partner TinyLife drum up numbers for its newest fundraising challenge.

Julian has signed up for TinyLife’s latest Zip Line challenge and is urging people throughout Northern Ireland to get involved and join him in raising vital funds for premature and sick babies who are born across the province.

The Zip Line event, which will take place on Saturday 25th June 2011, will be an exhilarating challenge, and certainly not for the faint hearted. Participants will be lifted 100ft off the ground in a crane, harnessed into a Zip Line and will fly 1000ft down the wire and over the River Lagan.

Julian Carr, managing director, bmibaby, said:

“As a natural thrill seeker I love new challenges and I’m very excited about taking part in the Zip Line event. I am used to travelling in and out of Belfast City Airport but this is a very novel way of flying! I am also looking forward to seeing Belfast from a very different view point!”

“I’m really excited about the event and I’m looking forward to helping to raise much needed funds for the local families of babies who are born too soon.  I have set up a Just Giving page, so should anyone like to support me, please visit: www.justgiving.com/Julian-Carr.”

Samara Prentice, Events and PR Officer, TinyLife, said:

“This is a very exciting event for TinyLife, and it has proved very popular in the past.  It is a really unique personal challenge and a fantastic way to raise awareness for the charity and to give something back to a family with a premature baby. It’s certainly a unique way to see Belfast in a different light… from an extraordinary height!”

The Zip Line Challenge will take place from 10am until 3pm and the meeting point will be the Big Fish.  TinyLife asks for £35 non refundable deposit and £100 sponsorship from all participants.

TinyLife is committed to ensuring all families who have experienced the birth of a baby requiring special or intensive care get all the help they need.  Approximately 2,000 babies are admitted to Northern Ireland’s neonatal units each year.  TinyLife is dedicated to reducing premature birth, illness, disability and death in babies born here.  It is a Northern Ireland based charity and all funds raised will ensure that it can continue its vital services across the province.

Anyone interested in supporting TinyLife should contact the Fundraising Team on 02890 815050 or email: info@tinylife.org.uk or visit our website www.tinylife.org.uk.
