Headstart4Babies is a small charity raising awareness of plagiocephaly and brachycephaly, two little-known skull conditions which can affect young babies. It also provides help and advice to families face with the condition and raises money to assist families on low incomes to proceed with treatment.

Story

<p><strong><span style="color: #993366;">Gracie Webb was born on 18 July 2011 and her twin brother Isaac was born just 3 minutes later.&nbsp; Two much-celebrated moments.&nbsp; However, in just a few hours Gracie's life became a little more difficult and she had to have the first of three major life saving operations.&nbsp; These are going well.&nbsp;</span></strong></p> <p><strong><span style="color: #993366;">But if that wasn't enough for her to deal with at such an early age, on 29 February, despite doctors having told her mum Lucy that her head shape would 'right itself with growth, and anyway her hair would cover it', Gracie was diagnosed with severe brachycephaly.&nbsp; Lucy,&nbsp;&nbsp;was told that the condition was so severe that the only treatment that would offer any significant improvement to the shape of Gracie's head would be a&nbsp;<span class="caps">STAR</span>band cranial remoulding orthoses&nbsp; helmet.&nbsp; These are <span style="text-decoration: underline;">not </span>available on the NHS.&nbsp; As Gracie's family we only want the best for her and are trying to raise the funds for her to have this treatment.&nbsp; Gracie will need to wear a special helmet for 23 hours of the day for up to 8 months.&nbsp; She will also have to attend fortnightly visits to&nbsp;&nbsp;the&nbsp;steeper Clinic in Leeds.</span></strong></p> <p><strong><span style="color: #993366;">After the lengthy treatment Gracie will have a much improved shape to her head</span></strong></p> <p><strong><span style="color: #993366;">Please, please, please help us to raise money for Gracie's helmet and the charity that supports families and children with this condition by making a donation of sponsorship for any of the events detailed below or by attending and joining in any of them:</span></strong></p> <p><strong><span style="color: #993366;">9 years old Maisie Odom is swimming half a mile at Aylestone Leisure Centre -&nbsp;March 11th</span></strong></p> <p><strong><span style="color: #993366;">Race night at Shane Varney&nbsp;Martial Arts&nbsp;Academy- Friday 23rd march 6.30pm-12am</span></strong></p> <p><strong><span style="color: #993366;">Football tournament - Sunday 25th March at Goals Leicester 1pm-5pm</span></strong></p> <p><strong><span style="color: #993366;">Carboot sale at Millgate School 25h march 11am-2pm</span></strong></p> <p><strong><span style="color: #993366;">All day Swimathon - Swim Gym Market harborough 31st March starting at 8am</span></strong></p> <p><strong><span style="color: #993366;">&nbsp;Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and supporting Gracie and her family.</span></strong></p> <p>Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
