Story
Seven years ago my two-year-old daughter was diagnosed with eye cancer. A week after she was diagnosed she had her eye removed to save her life. Isla is nearly nine now and is living with an artificial eye but otherwise in good health.
When she was diagnosed it was a devastating time for the whole family. We felt alone, angry and frightened by what had happened. Then we found CHECT.
CHECT offers vital support to families affected by retinoblastoma (Rb). This support continues throughout the child's life into adulthood. In 2010 I started working for the charity as a support worker and have seen first hand how devastating this condition can be and why that support is crucial.
This year I will be joining a team of 45 cyclists from Vision Express on the 160-mile Ride4Sight from London to Nottingham in a bid to jointly raise £25k. I have been training hard throughout the year and am honoured to join such a committed team who have been working so hard to hit their target.
So if you have any pennies to spare at all, please do dig deep and give what you can. CHECT really does make every penny count.
