Dear friends,
As you all know I am passionate about nature and particularly African wildlife. I am not sure how many of you saw ‘The secret life of elephants’ last year but it was about the Douglas-Hamilton’s research project in . I was particularly fascinated and enraptured by little Breeze the calf born at the time.
Since then I have been in regular contact with the Oria Douglas-Hamilton to find out what I can do to help which led me to set up this appeal.
In Oria’s words ,
"This appeal should be for following up on the fate of Breeze and her family, together with all the other elephants. That is in effect Long Term Monitoring and we would certainly appreciate some help."
This appeal will raise funds towards vehicle expenses and salaries of two researchers. They go out daily, check out who is alive [and dead and why] and keep a database on all the families.
A group of us will be going out to Elephant Watch Camp in June 2010 where we will be able to see the Samburu elephants and the valuable work the team are doing with some help from this appeal.
Many thanks
Julie
