National Grid's Pylon Climb Challenge 2017 · 15 June 2017

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Several years ago, I attempted to climb an electricity pylon but didn't quite make it to the top. The nerves kicked in two-thirds of the way up and I clambered down, with the remaining third unconquered!

When I got to the bottom, I immediately wished I'd pushed on - but there was no second go. As it's not every day there's a chance to climb a pylon, I grasped this rare opportunity to do something a bit different to raise money for charity - especially as it's for the Alzheimer's Society.

The Society does so much to meet the needs of people affected by dementia, inspiring change and advancing research. In 2015/16 for every £1 received, 89p was spent on directly improving the lives of those living with the disease, with the remaining 11p going towards generating future income.

Present day.  It will still be a big challenge, I'm still not very good with heights and I'll definitely be a bit scared!

But - please donate whatever you can; because this time I will  reach the summit!
