Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

After years of supporting my children at pony club and riding competitions I've decided it's time to tackle my competition nerves and challenge myself to take part in a BE80 (dressage, showjumping and xc in one day!) in the Autumn of next year and at the same time raise money for a very worthy cause. The Wobbleberry challenge was set up in memory of Hannah Francis a young eventer who lost her fight to bone cancer.  #kickingcancersbutt

Cancer has had a devastating affect on my life after losing  my mother to breast cancer when I was 18 years old. Cancer research and treatment has improved so much over the last 25 years that she would have survived had she been diagnosed today.  My children never knew their grandmother and I am desperate for history not to repeat itself - for anyone including myself.

I have also many friends and family who have fought and won, and fought and lost, to this dreadful disease. Some are currently fighting. Together we can raise the funds to make a difference to families fighting cancer.  This is my way of going way out of my comfort zone, putting myself out there, probably make an idiot of myself, maybe lose some weight, get fitter and hopefully not fall off!  I'm prepared to do it if it helps the cause. The wobbleberry challenge is a group of out of shape and riding style (mostly) mums doing this together and probably embarrassing our children in the process.

I bought my horse Edward four years ago as a youngster fresh from Ireland and together we have come on in leaps and bounds. Occasionally I hand over the reins to a gung-ho teenager when the jumps get bigger and he could do without my wobbly legs cantering towards a jump! He's a dude and I'm confident will look after me. I hope I won't let him down.
