We perform pioneering research into genetic abnormalities of brain tumours, novel imaging techniques & drug delivery. We also excel in diagnosis, innovative treatment & raising awareness. Additional funding will enable crucial advances to be made in understanding & treating childhood brain tumours.

Story

I am running the Paignton 10K Run on Saturday 16th March 2013, to raise funds and awareness for an old friend of mine whose 7 year old daughter Amelia was diagnosed in Oct 2009 at 4 years old with an ‘extensive’ inoperable Ganglioglioma brain tumour in the brain stem, spinal cord and cerebellum.

Visit her just giving page at www.justgiving.com/amelias-appeal for her full story.

There is very little that can be done with an inoperable brain stem tumour. She has tried chemotherapy which has kept the tumour stable but if it does grow again she has very options. Radiotherapy is probably the only other treatment option but they have been told that this is unlikely to shrink Amelia’s type of tumour so may only keep the tumour stable but with huge side effects.

This is the reason why they are trying to raise as much money as they can for the Childrens Brain Tumour Research Centre in Nottingham to hopefully try and find a cure.

Please help me by donating as much or as little as you can…every penny helps. Even if you can’t afford to donate please could I ask you to help me raise awareness of brain tumours and the lack of research by telling all your friends and family.

Thank you so much for all your help and support. I really hope one day we manage to find a cure for this devastating disease.
