Every two hours, someone in the UK will become paralysed. Globally, it is estimated that 15.4 million people are living with paralysis. At Spinal Research our vision is to create a world where paralysis can be cured, no matter when the injury occurred or where in the world.

Story

In 2009, my husband Nick suffered a spinal cord injury which left him paralysed from the waist down. Since then he has worked tirelessly on his rehabilitation and is well on the road to recovery.

He is one of the lucky ones. The location of his injury means that regaining some function was possible. For most people with a spinal cord injury, this is simply not the case. It is estimated that over 40,000 people in the UK alone are living with a spinal cord injury caused by accidents or illness. Spinal Research is working to transform the lives of these people by developing treatments to reverse and even prevent paralysis caused by spinal injury. Every research project they fund brings them closer to turning this hope into a reality.

I'm running this iconic half marathon not only to raise money to help Spinal Research find a cure for paralysis, but also because my wonderful, inspirational husband can't. So please dig deep and donate now.
