During National Adoption Week (Nov 9-15) I'm going to be jumping out of a plane to raise funds for Adoption UK. I'm not sure i'll be feeling this excited when I'm stood bracing myself for the 10,000ft free fall jump but knowing that i'll be supporting thousands of adopted children and their families will make the sheer terror worthwhile.

But just so you know, Adoption UK is the only national charity run by and for adoptive parents. The charity’s aim is to provide and support a self-help network for adoptive parents to explore the unique social, emotional and developmental needs of adopted children and young people and their families. Through this network, Adoption UK also promotes effective learning practice, based on almost 40 years’ experience of adoptive parenting, which is integrated with current theories of trauma, attachment and development.
