Story
I served in B Company 4RGJ between 1988 - 1995. In 2007 the Royal Green Jackets were merged with other Regiments to form The Rifles. Now, well into my forties, as well as karate my hobbies include cycling. I was recently lucky enough to get a place in the 2014 Prudential Ride 100 - a 100 mile ride starting in London, out to Box Hill and back to London. I thought it'd be the ideal opportunity to try to raise some money for an excellent cause.
Care4casualties is an appeal by The Rifles Regimental Trust to help injured riflemen and their famalies.
62 Riflemen have lost their lives in Action since February 2007 leaving behind 12 widows, 6 long term partners, 32 children without a father; over 30 Riflemen have lost limbs, of whom 3 have lost three limbs and 10 have lost 2; other Riflemen have lost their sight and others are suffering neurological damage leaving them in brain rehabilitation centres where two are likely to remain for the rest of their lives. Our soldiers might be coming home from Afghanistan for good but the wounds suffered as a result of our service there will remain for many years to come. The Rifles is spending over £120,000 per year on helping to enhance the lives of those who are suffering and are committed to continuing to support our casualties whenever they may need it for the rest of their lives, but to do this more funds are needed. Please support us as we try to make a difference to the lives of those who have given so much in the service of our country.
