Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the leading charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

On Tuesday 17 August a team of 10 (9 KC staff and one guest from supplier Arco) cycled the 85.5 mile distance between the 15 telephone exchanges in KC's Hull & East Riding Telephone Network Area.  To date the team have raised alonst £1200 with money still coming in.

A few members of the team were experienced cyclists (though not at this distance), however, the majority of the team were novices - so this was a real challenge for everyone.

The team captains, Graham Pyrah and Kev Thornton came up with the challenge as they wanted to do something really different to raise money and awareness for the Group's Charity of the Year, The Stroke Association.

Well done team and a huge thank you to everyone who supported this challenge - believe me it was gruelling I am standing up as I type this message!

And a special thank you too to Pete Hepple who supported the team through-out the day making sure we were fed and watered regularaly and just making us feel safe by being there!

The team are pictured just before the ride looking fresh and energetic.....(left to right): Richard Young, Chris Hanson, Damian Wright , Kevin Thornton, Graham Pyrah, Chris Philpott, Michelle Barnes, Steve Cox, Terry Kent and Mark Fletcher.
