Llanberis MRT is one of the busiest in the UK with an annual callout rate of over 220 incidents. Based in and around the Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) area the team is made up of about 50 volunteers who are all experienced mountaineers. As a registered charity we rely entirely on your donations.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

There are many mountain rescue teams across the UK with each one responsible for all of the search and rescue operations in a particular region and all made up of dedicated, highly skilled, highly trained unpaid-volunteers. It is impossible to overestimate the generosity, committment and bravery of these volunteers and the sacrifices and personal risks they take to save other peoples' lives.

Most mountain rescue call-outs involve the serach and rescue of lost, injured or stranded hikers and mountaineers. These rescue teams however may also often be involved in a a great variety of search and rescue mssions such as the locating and rescuing of people from cars trapped in snow, hunting for lost aircraft and searching for all kinds of missing persons - be it lost children, adults missing from residential homes, suicide attempts and suspicious disappearances.

Despite not receiving any public funding, mountain rescue services are the most trained and best prepared outfits to deal with these situations and often take the lead over the police and other public emergency services in coordinating and running search and rescue operations.

Mountain rescue Teams are completely self-sufficient and rely upon the support and generosity of personal donations and fundraising events in order to survive and maintain a high-quailty community service. These teams need to be capable of surviving long periods in extreme weather and inhospiotable terrain. With the expensive, specialised rescue equipment that they require to fulfill their role, mountain rescue charities remain very expensive to support, maintain and run. One vehicle alone, for example, costs £35, 000.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
