The Kinder Mountain Rescue Team is a volunteer search and rescue organisation based in the Peak District. We rescue hikers, climbers, fellrunners, mountain bikers and the occasional sheep from wild and high places as well as urban searches to assist police in looking for missing people.

Story

Hi guys!

Well, as most of you know from the Facebook page or word of mouth, I'm off to walk one side of England to the other. Originally I was just planning on doing this for a laugh, but following so many people asking what charity I'm doing it for, I've decided to charge you all for my privlege :D

I must admit that when I originally decided to do this, like most things, I'd not really put any thought into it. The closer the time comes to leaving the more daunting it seems, but "I'll be rate!".

So on 27th August at first light I'll be heading up to the start line at St Bee's accompanied by Ben Harwood and his Dad (who will see us almost to half way), and Marci, a very good friend from Budapest who with a little luck will be alongside me from west to east coasts. This pile of stupidity should take us 11days, finishing 192 miles later at Robin Hood's bay on Sunday 6th September.

I've decided for obvious reasons to pick Mountain Rescue as a worthy charity, and after taking a look around the web I've gone for the guys at Kinder who are trying to raise cash for a new HQ. (http://www.kmrt.org.uk/site_2005/what_we_do.shtm).

I'll keep you all up to date with progress where possible, and I'll post all the photos of me fixing my feet as soon as I return.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thanks in advance!!

Kevin
