Together with a group of my colleagues from the HSBC we are doing a 13.5 mile stroll along the Lleyn Coastal Path in order to raise funds for the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team.

The Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team is made up entirely of volunteers who live close to Snowdon.

Mountain guides and instructors, teachers, plumbers, doctors, park wardens, builders, nuclear engineers and business consultants - all and more can be found in the team. All are skilled and experienced mountaineers. Turning out in all weathers, day or night, 365 days a year, they share a common purpose - to help anyone who is in trouble on the hills.

The Rescue team is based in Nant Peris (the old Llanberis), a village nestled at the foot of Snowdon.

Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales, is probably the busiest mountain in Britain. Many of the visitors to Wales are determined to walk or climb to the summit.  

The Llanberis Pass and the big cliffs of Clogwyn du'r Arddu and Lliwedd give the area one of the highest concentrations of quality rock climbing anywhere and attracts climbers from all over the world. In a hard winter some of the hardest ice climbing in Britain is here.

The sheer volume of visitors coming to Snowdon makes the Llanberis Rescue Team one of the busiest in the country.
