Story
I am running The British 10k London Run to thank The Elizabeth Foundation for their support with my son, Barney, during his weekly nursery sessions.
Barney was born profoundly deaf, and had Coclear implants at 18 months. Barney was "switched on" at 20 months, and started to hear for the first time at 22 months. Since then, he has been attending nursery and pre-school classes at the Elizabeth Foundation. His speech and listening have improved so much that he now talks all the time in spite of his hearing loss. Here is a picture of him at The Elizabeth Foundation.
The charity helps over 50 children like Barney each year, all learning to lip-read, listen and speak with their hearing aids/cochlear implants. My son will go on to school with great language and communication skills, thanks to our input as parents and thanks to staff at The Elizabeth Foundation nursery. Please sponsor me now to help raise money for this very small but very special charity.
