Story
Thank you for visiting our page. On Friday 11th December KGS CCF took part in the Go the Distance Cadet Challenge in aid of St Dunstan's, a charity which supports blind ex-service men and women. The cadets and staff completed in teams of 8 - 10 in an ergometer relay over half-marathon distance. The rowers wore blindfolds when on the machines, so their speed was controlled by a sighted team member. After the seven teams completed the distance we realised that we were not far off 100 miles between us, so we split the remaining distance between the machines and got back on. This took some determination, but not nearly as much as it takes to rebuild your life witout your sight.
With a combination of recently blinded troops returning from Afghanistan and Iraq and the increasing infirmity of many of the older St Dunstaners the charity needs your support more than ever. If you are sponsoring a particular cadet or team, please put their name into a message with your donation so that they can take part in the competition for the best fundraiser. If you are a UK taxpayer it will help the charity if you could complete the gift aid declaration, as this will allow St Dunstan's to reclaim an additional 28p in the pound at no cost to you.
Thank you for your time, and (we hope) your donation.
