Next summer we are going to Mozambique with Oundle School to continue our work in helping the people who live in a small community called Mashungu. Last year, the group raised the money to build a new health clinic in the township and hire two full time nurses and buy a new refrigerator to store the medication in. This year we are trying to raise money in order to build a bridge over the mangrove swamp near the clinic to improve the access to it. Also, for the first time, we will be establishing some more sustainable projects to help provide the local people with income to support their families for the longer term. We plan to set up a sewing collective for the women who live in a neighbouring village called Pomene to help them sew and embroider patchwork quilts, bags and cushions for the local market. Depending on how much we can raise, we will also be establishing a fishing collective to give the Mahungu people stable income and food.
