The Karabiner Mountaineering Club is running a 24 hr climbing meet on 21/22 August.

The idea is to try to continuously climb over a 24 hour period. To keep it safe, not every person on the meet will be climbing all the time - there should be sufficient time for breaks, fuel up and relaxation as long as somebody is on the rock and climbing at any point in time over 24 hours. Hopefully, a good bunch of support people will come along who are happy to supply hot drinks and food or who join the climbers overnight to boost morale.

To encourage attendance and make the pain more worthwhile I would like to use this as a fundraising opportunity. After some deliberation, I decided on Claire House Children's Hospice as the charity of choice (see: http://www.claire-house.org.uk)

Claire House looks after children aged 0 - 23 years with life threatening or life limiting conditions and their families from Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales and the Isle of Man. Services include specialist respite care, palliative and terminal care and bereavement and family support for the whole family in a home from home environment where the needs of the children and their families come first.

Admittedly, not very climbing / mountaineering related but hopefully a cause both climbers and the general public will be able to relate to and find worthwhile.

As rock climbing is weather dependent this event might not take place if conditions are bad. Your donation will still be appreciated!
