Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As you may or may not know, I will be travelling to in September and working at The Forever Angels Baby Home (www.foreverangels.org) as a volunteer for three months.

I will be taking part in the Weald St George's 10K Run on 6th September in aid of Forever Angels and every penny I raise will go directly to helping these desperately needy children. Please support me in my fundraising and donate whatever you can. It's a brilliant cause and if you read on you will see where your money will be going...

Forever Angels currently provides a loving and stable home for 41 children up to 5 years of age - each of these children have overcome a massive struggle to survive in their short lives. Many of the children living at the baby home are orphans, others have been abandoned and others have parents who love their children dearly but are so sick or impoverished that have been forced to give their child away.

Where possible Forever Angels tries to reunite broken families - any child with living relatives will be cared for in the hope that once the children are 2-3 years of age they will be reintegrated back into their own families.

Please read Mwita's story below. This is one little boy whose life has been turned around by the Forever Angels Baby Home:

Mwita was found, abandoned outside a hospital with his name written on a piece of cardboard and tied around his neck with string. Mwita was severely malnourished and had Hypothermia; he was taken to hospital where he later needed to be resuscitated after a convulsion caused him to stop breathing.

Amy Hathaway (Founder and Manager of Forever Angels) first saw Mwita in hospital by chance. He was lying alone in a urine-soaked hospital bed with no covers or clothes, shivering and whimpering. Amy immediately worked on getting Mwita transferred into the care of Forever Angels so that he could be cared for in a loving environment - even if it was simply a comfortable and peaceful place for him to die.

At approximately 3-4 years old, Mwita weighed just 7.69kg - the weight of a healthy 6 month old baby - he was starved almost to death and could only eat two mouthfuls before his tiny stomach was overfilled which caused him to vomit.

Although his past is unclear, his head-to-toe scars and burns tell their own story of a very traumatic early childhood filled with abuse and neglect...

... With a lot of love and patience Mwita overcame his malnutrition and began to eat normally. With a varied diet, vitamins and lots of love and care he gained weight steadily and also managed to gain plenty of strength. Within a few weeks Mwita was able to walk around and join in with some gentle games. A few months down the line and he was racing around with all of the other children at Forever Angels and melted the hearts of anyone who met him!

Mwita has grown into a confident, sensitive and loving little boy, who seems to have forgotten all about his abusive and severely deprived past. He is happy and fun loving, well loved by all and known as the 'gentle giant'. Mwita has now been transferred to a Children’s Home suitable for older children and has settled in brilliantly. He has made many new friends and he has been given the opportunity to reach his full potential in his future life.

There are many children in with stories just like Mwita's. The money I raise over the next couple of months will help Forever Angels to care for these children and ensure that many more success stories can be realised. I am lucky enough to be spending time at Forever Angels and I will be able to see exactly where all of your donations are able to make a difference.

This is what your donation could pay for:

£5.00      will cover a month's worth of medical expenses, including childhood immunisations

£10.00    will feed a child for one month

£30.00    will pay a nurse's salary to care for the children for one month

£50.00    will cover the total cost of care for a child for one month

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!! xx
