Nairobi to Kisumu: a KOPing long way!! - We did it!! 435.13km in under 10.5 hours! Thank you to EVERYONE who sponsored us!! 

 

KOP Warwick Medical students cycle 435km “from Nairobi to Kisumu” in 12 hours

 

The KOP 2010 team will be cycling 435km in 12 hours as a relay in the fitness suite on main campus on Sunday 27th June. (see our website for more details!!)


KOP Warwick... This is the second year that Warwick Medical School has been involved with KOP and we are determined to make this year even bigger and better than last year!

 

We have all sorts of fundraising activities planned - from bag packs to street collections, Kops and Robbers night and maybe even some sponsored runs!

The KOP project we will be supporting and working with this year is VIMA, a non-governmental organisation which offers support for HIV and AIDS orphans and vulnerable children, in the area of Kisumu in Western Kenya, through foster homes and carers; thus offering personal care in a safe, family environment.

 

 

 

 

A bit about KOP...
The Kenyan Orphan Project (KOP) was set up by medical students from Nottingham University in 2001 as a response to the plight of the millions of people affected by HIV/AIDS and poverty in sub-Saharan Africa.

 

 

In the last 8 years KOP has been involved in establishing a hospital, a health clinic, a primary and secondary school, two community/feeding centres and a support and rehabilitation centre for street children all in the Nyanza province in western Kenya.

 

 

Each year groups of medical students from around 10 different universities go to work on the projects KOP supports. For more information please go to www.KOPafrica.org
